Approval + sundering the Titan dreams and making them Tranquil (Elgar'nan)
approval + (prompt) // not accepting // @theharellan
Elgar'nan's hand falls over the Wolf's shoulders, fingers digging into flesh in an act of comfort, of fatherly pride under the heavy, single focus, gaze. It is heavier than the world, dense enough to crack bone. The wolf does not bend, his shape not faltering.
The war was over and Mythal already weaved it in colour with brightly coloured shattered pieces of glass. That broken dreams should be reminded for their sacrifice, for all the light that would bathe all Children could continue refracting the victory that they had clawed on this day.
Mythal's wolf looks up to him with the same anger simmering just behind light eyes. Mythal might be blind to it like only a mother could, thinking and seeing only the best on those that she had welcomed to this world. She was blind to it. This was a wolf pup that would day would learn that his teeth were made for more than play, more than eat. This was a wolf that would find others like it and when the time came, it would come into their home in the night and bite into the necks of those that had fed it as a pup. Elgar'nan smiled, a ill fitting grin that hardly covered his teeth.
He would look forward to it.
The war was over and he could already feel this... nagging taste and drum of emptiness, gnawing at the back of his mind. There was work to do, to build this empire that Mythal had dreamed and weave the world into shape from a song that he could barely remember the melody of. The time for drums was coming to an end and he felt his heart grow colder for it.
Elgar'nan sighs, squeezing the other's shoulder.
Promise me pup, promise me that you will meet me with bared teeth and an anger capable of burning worlds. And I shall await every night with one eye open and one hand on my sword. Nodding, Elgar'nan pushes past him towards where Mythal stood, overlooking the devastation "You have done well."
elgar'nan, the devourer of dreamless titans, greatly approves

Some DA lore musings, especially in connection to the Maker & stuff, future possibilities, WHAT'S GOING ON UNDER IT ALL
Spoilers for Veilguard (end game stuff), under a cut b/c I'm sure I'll get LONG
SO
I think the Maker is real. Not just a made up thing by Mythal that she either told Andraste Not just an Evanuris pretending to be something. Obvs not a god like the others, but still massively powerful being a creation variant spirit.
I think The Maker is the Maker (spirit) and I think the chant of light contains clues to the origins of the evanuris and more. I think the Maker is the father that Elgar'nan overthrew, especially since his theme in the OSt is called "Eldest of the Sun". Sun->light->chantry symbol->SPECFICIALLY A SUNBURST THAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FIGHT THE SUN MAYBE?
In the chant of light it mentions creating children who disappointed him, he made them in his image (spirits, immortal) and then he made beings not in his image (mortal) to balance out their lack of whatever he wanted from them.
I think he created humans. Like, specifically humans. and I think he made them over the sea b/c we know they're not from Thedas (Andraste of course Thedas-centriced the chant b/c that's all she knows). I think that not only were the evanuris jealous of the dwarves with bodies, but ALSO daddy's new toys. So THEY made bodies, etc we know how that went.
okay so here comes the twist. I think the Maker saw what his first children were doing and realized they'd unbalance the balance he wants. So I think he made something to balance him out. I think he made the devouring storm (or whatever is behind that). It eats magic, it's cold (not light and warm like the sun) and set it loose. I think it's out there doing destruction while he creates. The balance to creation. (I think he's wrong here, but I'll get to that later lol, we've learned spirits don't know everything and are fallible)
SO I think the humans had to fight the storm and I think some of them fled, and that's how they came to thedas, now that they Veil is up and they won't be torn apart by magic. I think that those who stayed behind created Kosslith/Qunari whatever we're calling them to fight the storm, especially Adaari. Which is how the humans in Par Vollen who settled there made ruins with Qunari engravings. but the split was so long ago, it's likely no know remembers anymore.
So THEN there are the Executors who seem to be bent on causing the deaths of the Old gods/ the evanuris b/c everything they've done has lead to the Archdemons dying and killing/knocking them out of the picture. BUT, if they ALL die, we know the Veil will collapse, blight will spill out, and everyone dies. NOT what the Maker wants. So the Executors don't want THAT, which is why they seem on your side in Veilguard. So we need the Veil to stay, but no more Evanuris. so that all happens.
(also side note, remembering in DA2 about the citizens who are all "there are more fade tears and spirits and demons then when I was a kid" and YEAH b/c the veil is WEAKENING with the deaths of each archdemon!! so it's true, it IS getting worse) any who
While I think the executors are connected to the storm somehow, I don't think they're working for it b/c they want "The storm quelled" and now balance can happen.
So I think the executors are working FOR the Maker. They are literally executors of his will (b/dum tch) in the way that maybe the destruction opposing spirit guy might also have guys working for him (those lizards we keep seeing? cold blooded, so...maybe?) which might explain why they're not Evil Evil but not Good Good. b/c Balance is neutral.
And this is where I think the Maker is wrong b/c balance isn't always good in every situation. Also I feel like he thinks that only from destruction can creation happen, and there I think he's wrong. Only because the tranquil exist, and they are blank BUT...they still create. They are the only ones who can do what they do. Could be because the earth & titans are NOT Maker made, so it's out of his control or influence?? WHOO IDEAS
ANYWAY those are my thoughts, I'm sure there's more, some obscure lore that backs up my thoughts, but also as a storyteller, I think this would be a cool way to go.
Also, my super out there conspiracy theory about how executors are connected to eyes, eyes of storms, Anaris yelling about the Eye seeing him and the chant of light mentioning a storm AND the maker turning his EYE on his new creations, and the Executor symbol looks like an EYE over a SPIRIT FACE, eye balls are CIRCLES, the executors are tied to CIRCLES, Sun and moons are CIRCLES there is a SECOND MOON we don't see a lot, Sun warm, moon cold, anyway MOON EVIL XD (Jk on that last part, but I'm very suspicious of moons now THANKS RUIDUS)
But yeah TLDR DA devs LET ME FIGHT THE MAKER AND HIS EVIL TWIN THE UN-MAKER XD
OH quick addition: So I think that Dragons might either be from over the sea too OR Dragons were all over the world and were there first maybe? We know in a game named Dragon Age, dragons are probably important XD)

Adding on to my previous musings on that damn necromancer:
Something I think about a lot is how in one of codexes under "Emmrich's diary" he explains to Harding, after her question, that "soul" and "spirit" are different things: a soul being the essence of once-alive beings while a spirit is something formed and born entirely in the Fade.
And then I think about the pre-romance scene with Emmrich where he says that he talks to his parents' graves and "likes to think they're listening", implying that these once-alive souls are not bothered by him and he doesn't particularly know if they can even hear him. The latter being doubled down on by the codex "On death" where Harding says that Emmrich does not know what happens after death — and that he looks "pensive, kinda sad" when asked about it.
I already talked about how Blood of Arlathan allows you a peek into Emmrich's inner turmoil because Elgar'nan tempts him with a promise to "bring back those beyond". And we know that there are countless undead fueled by wisps the way Manfred is helping around the Grand Necropolis, many summoned by him, so it's definitely not about the spirits of the Fade. We also know that Emmrich is a corpse whisperer and can talk to the souls of those once-living but he has to let them go after some time and he always does.
Emmrich also voices that a necromancer should be more comfortable with letting death take its course if you revive Manfred.
Which does bring me to the bittersweet thought that Emmrich has not tried corpse whispering with his parents because he wouldn't be able to let them go.
#🌞#🎮#He perplexes me. I want to know more. I need. More info on him.#I'm not reopening the game rn to look at more codexes but these ones gripped me.#dragon age#datv#datv spoilers#datv meta#emmrich volkarin

One thing I will say for the ending of DAV is that it's made one thing from Trespasser that always confused me a bit finally make sense: the fact that Solas spares even low approval Quiz. Like, the fact that he does that means that affection clearly doesn't come into that decision! He may be nicer about it if he likes Quiz, but he's not sparing them because he likes them. But it makes a lot more sense in the context of him making an enemy of Rook and then leaving them alive when he meets them in Minrathous, just assuming that they'll do what he wants and not get in his way and being completely blindsided by them tricking him even though they have no reason to just go along with what he says. At the end of the day Solas just... doesn't respect either Rook or Quiz enough as equals to see them as a potential threat, and that both explains him sparing Quiz and ultimately leads to his downfall.
I mean, think about it. He killed Mythal. He killed Felassan. Clearly he is not above killing even the people he loves best, the very last remnants of the world he's supposedly in this to save at that, if their survival might get in the way of his plans! You can talk about how much he cares for high approval Quiz, or even how much he loves Lavellan in a Sol@vellan (censored to keep it out of the tags) worldstate, but love demonstrably would not stop him if he determined Quiz to be a threat! He does not love them more than Mythal (he really, really doesn't love them more than he loves Mythal, Christ on a bike the amount of shit he does for Mythal and then refuses to accept her culpability for the fallout of is insane), he does not love them more than Felassan, he does not have more reason to spare them when they say they're going to stop him (whether peacefully or by force) than he did those two, but he still does even if he hates them. Now Solas doesn't like killing (he just has no concept of what counts as actual necessity or willingness to stop when he's going to kill most of Thedas), so it makes sense he wouldn't want them dead if he could avoid it, but if he saw them as a threat he would not spare Quiz where he didn't spare Mythal or Felassan. He's not going to spare a Quiz he hates who's vowing to stop him at all costs where he killed the last remnants of the world he wants to save... unless of course he doesn't think they actually can stop him.
And him not thinking they can stop him makes sense when you consider his response to Rook, who breaks out of a prison Solas thought was inescapable and by Solas's own admission gets further in dealing with the Evanuris than Solas ever could have himself; he still just completely dismisses them as a real threat, takes no steps to prevent them from turning on him, has no plan for if they find out what killing Elgar'nan will do, and is caught completely off-guard if they trick him with a fake dagger. He sees Rook surpass his every expectation and do better than he himself ever could have, and he still completely fails to realize that they do in fact pose a threat! I do believe that he on at least some level can grow to respect and even care for Quiz and Rook as people who exist, but he always thinks he is ultimately above them. He totally fails to see them as potential threats, and that's what ultimately leads to his downfall: if he'd preemptively killed Quiz at the end of Trespasser, or killed Rook the second Elgar'nan fell and they were no longer needed, or even just made any sort of plan for what to do if either or both of them were in fact the threats they made it clear they intended to be he might very well have won! But his unbridled arrogance and refusal to accept that a mortal could ever outdo the Dread Wolf ultimately gets him locked in the Fade (including the ending where he goes willingly, which only happens because Rook faces down yet another god to make it work). It's a very fitting end for someone who muses about the parallels between him and Elgar'nan and him and Rook and fails to consider what it might mean for him when Rook fully steps into his place in the narrative.

I started it off as a joke but the more I think about Serilyel going big sis mode on Yorath the more I love it
One of the biggest things for Serilyel has always been kinda... taking care of people. She's dalish. She likes contributing, she cares for others.
And while she's not really good at giving leadership advice I think she'd inevitably slip into that role of being there when she can, even if she's trying really hard to remain as emotionally removed as possible (for obvious reasons, she really doesn't know what they're gonna have to do with Solas after Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain, even if she's hopeful they'll be able to talk him down)
I'm still musing how much involvement I want her to have because, as much I love Ekko and Serilyel dearly, I still want the Veilguard timeline to be about Yorath as much as possible and I do have a favorite child (Seril)
#dragon age rambling#also to be clear Seril REALLY wants in her heart to talk sense into Solas#but ultimately she's a big sister and protector first and a lover second#Ekko has always been much more invested on finding him from a 'talk him down' standpoint than Seril has

Dragon Age Veilguard liveblogging -
Mourn Watch!Rook was found by the undead as an infant? For a second there that had me worried Rook was going to turn out to have a mysterious Chosen One backstory instead of being just some dude Varric picked up in a bar, but the other factions don't mention mysterious abandoned infant Rooks. I love this actually. Why did the Mourn Watch not take him to an orphanage. Is this normal in Nevarra, does the Mourn Watch have foundlings around on a regular basis, or is it just Rook, was baby Rook the Mourn Watch's collective mascot, I can't wait to talk to Emmrich. And I'm resisting the temptation to give Rook vallaslin but delighted to discover the option is there even with this faction backstory, maybe your Rook could have lived with a Dalish clan in between life at the necropolis, it's possible. And LAVELLAN. MY GIRL. MY GIRL IS BACK AND PREPARED FOR HEARTACHE, I AM EXPERIENCING EMOTIONS IN THE CHARACTER CREATOR.
...wait, that can't be all the past choices we input, can it? Just the Inquisitor/their LI/whether the Inquisition was disbanded/whether they want to save Solas? There will be an opportunity to fill in more of the worldstate later, right? They probably just don't want us to get too bogged down in the character creator/prologue. I'm not going to worry. I'm a little worried.
PLAYING FOR ALL OF TWO SECONDS AND WOLF STATUE SPOTTED, I HAVE MISSED YOU
The frescos! The photo mode, the ability to get up close to see the frescos from any angle I like, even playing on xbox with no modding tools!! Incredible, I am going to be poring over every scene like a museum exhibit you've got to drag me out of, I am poking through all Solas's artifacts in extreme closeup, and also what is this wolf-headed instrument doing on the bed in his Minrathous hideaway, does he play music, why has Lavellan not heard him play music, has he been holding out on us
The ritual! ...still has that one extra Elgar'nan circle-headpiece statue on the bottom row of statues that doesn't match the top row, huh, I'd kind of thought that was just a slapdash placeholder kind of thing for the preview that would be edited for the final game. Why doesn't triangle-headpiece get a statue on the bottom row, why's Elgar'nan hogging an extra spot. Rude.
Rook: "Helpful advice from the elven god of, and I am quoting you here, 'Lies, treachery, and rebellion.'"
Solas: "Depending on the story."
The way Solas takes time out from his frustrated angry lecturing to let some amusement show through there, and then that You have exchanged verbal jabs with Solas popup, the most important achievement, giving our trickster god some enrichment in his enclosure
HE LIVED! I KNEW VARRIC WAS GOING TO LIVE i mean he looks pretty bad and it was a magic dagger so who knows what'll happen later but he was NOT KILLED OFFSCREEN IN A HASTY CUTAWAY IN THE PREVIEW! Phew.
Aaaand now that we're in casual clothes, my poor mage gets hideous pajamas. Ah, now it really feels like Dragon Age is back.
FELASSAN SIGNING CODEX ENTRIES IN THE LIGHTHOUSE ;_; And the Divine Imperatives codex entry musing on the nature of divinity in general and its effects on Solas and his followers specifically, and a puzzle to solve already and it's such a cute one with these statues, how am I supposed to ever leave the Lighthouse and progress the plot when Solas's base is already giving me everything I want. He kept a music room locked away! He has been holding out on us. "Finally, a beloved memory surfaces. A smiling glance, meeting at a crescendo, a shared moment of understanding" - given the way we opened this room, was that moment shared with Mythal? And he's recreated his specific frescos from Skyhold here in this hidden room! And despite the fresh paint supplies in front of them they're already in not great condition, and all the other frescos in the Lighthouse are so incredibly horribly faded here in the Fade where time is not real, Solas is really not doing okay
and neither am I, HELP, HELP, I NEED A TANK, I NEED A DOG, I NEED CARVER, CASSANDRA, ALISTAIR, SOMEONE COME GET THESE DARKSPAWN OFF OF ME, I don't think any Dragon Age has spent this long without giving you a warrior companion. Between Varric, Harding, Neve, and now Bellara, one ranged support companion after another, I'm really, really feeling pressured to make Rook the melee guy here, and I refuse. Just frantically spamming Fade Step all through Arlathan Forest.
IS THAT MY WIFE?? okay obviously it would be reading far too much into things to suspect the first raven I see of being Morrigan, but to be fair, they've had sneaky raven Morrigans before, she spent Wicked Eyes Wicked Hearts hiding out in raven form on Celene's balcony - aaaaand shortly afterward, here's Morrigan in the Veil Jumpers' camp! I've connected the dots, I've connected them. It was probably just a raven.
"I have borne many appellations." "I have had many names, but you may call me Flemeth." Welcome back, Mythal.
...But if Morrigan's here already, Mythal headgear and all, and we still haven't been asked to input any more worldstate information like, say, whether she drank from the Well of Sorrows, or the existence of her son - that's seriously it then, those extremely few questions in the character creator were seriously all the worldstate customization we're getting? That's shocking. I'm being so well fed with lore about Solas and the gods right now that surprisingly I don't mind this all that much, but it does feel like they're losing a huge part of what makes Dragon Age Dragon Age. And I was really hoping our Dalish Grey Warden companion would have maybe just one line about what the existence of a Dalish Hero of Ferelden meant to him.
Actually in general the gameplay here is reminding me a lot more of Mass Effect than Dragon Age - the new combat style, the single linear story path to follow with almost no side quests so far aside from the puzzle to unlock Solas's hidden room, Bellara's busy making calibrations and Rook's in their room looking at fish, and now we're heading out on our ME2 recruitment mission. And I mean, I like Mass Effect fine, and every Dragon Age game is always drastically different from the last, but this is an adjustment
SOLAS HAD HAIR AND WE GET TO SEE IT we get to wander through memories of solas's past this game is so good to me I can't stay mad at it.
the god of rook's people now speaks to rook in their sleep and in their meditations and rook even walks through his memories, rook is surrounded by all these charming romanceable companions and yet the most intense connection that is being formed right now, by far, is with solas, and it's in such a wildly different way than Lavellan who got to know him as just Solas first, the person not the legend, Solas the vulnerable apostate in the middle of a powerful organization she leads; Rook is having intense personal conversations with his very own god of lies and he knows it, insane about this.
The prison mission is so beautiful with the enormous sea creatures in the distance and bones at the bottom of the sea and, most importantly and most beautifully, Lucanis drawing some melee fire away from me ;_; tears of joy ;_; finally a companion I can rely on ;_; And Neve complimented his demon on having good taste in possessing him! Oh my god Neve, stealing Hawke's pickup lines? You can do so much better than a Hawke pickup line!
#da4 spoilers#up through recruiting Lucanis#long post. posting it now before it gets any longer#dragon age#veilguard#liveblogging

most (not all!) are also on ao3, -> here <-
ghilan'nain codex entries and possible timelines involved
fen'harel/andruil/ghilan'nain - exploration of them as a ship, but also character explorations in general

Elvhen terms of endearment (everyone thank @weptduty )
Now that we have a nice little selection of Elvhen terms of endearment, a few thoughts on which ones Solas uses and who he directs them at. He might refer to a single person by several of these, depending on the depth of feeling in the moment. I'm not adding the gendered terms but they're used as appropriate.
Vhenan (my heart): Vhenan does not have to be romantic, it’s akin to agape.
1. Romanced Lavellan - romantic. 2. Mythal - he wouldn't use it as romantic for Mythal, but it conveys the depth of his feeling. He was her companion spirit, they were bonded beyond normal kinship. Uses it less and less as the apotheosis nears.
Varethlin (literally "promise-kin", intimate - meaning kinship founded on a personal / private oath - @weptduty literally invented this word, bow before Pal)
1. Landalen 2. Felassan
Hah'ren (respected elder; respected teacher). It's rare that he ever uses this, but I can see it happening for a wise elf he grows to respect and learn from (honestly Eldrin springs to mind if they ever met). But generally he usually uses this as a playful insult. Case in point:
1. Felassan - sarcastic but affectionate, used when Solas is being cheeky, so 60% of the time. 2. Anaris - derogatory, used to annoy the shit out of him.
Lethallin (friend, kin): Our first branching definition/use - first, someone who is or is like close kin/familial. Second, a positive way to refer to a friend. Third, towards someone who is an elf but only acknowledging their shared kinship.
1. A high-approval, non-romanced Lavellan - approval status changes the meaning from "friend" to "kin". 2. Abelas - closer to "brother" than the more general "kin", but still distant as of Inquisition. 3. Hulwen - mostly as "friend", but it packs a bit more meaning since Hulwen is struggling with and exploring his elven heritage. 4. Elgar'nan - used as a pejorative; essentially, it reduces Elgar'nan to just another Firstborn elf.
Da'len (little one; child): Our second branching definition/use. First and most obvious, to a literal child. Second, as one might refer to a pupil or a younger person who is beloved when he's in the role of a teacher or parental figure. Third, derogatory. Essentially, 'you are acting like a child.' He will hit someone with a "da'len" if he thinks they're being incredibly naive.
1. Nanna - pupil (at first), but now, daughter. More "little one" than "child." Not meant to disparage or insinuate she's childlike, it's more like she's his child. Nanna also has the rare honor of being one of the few non-elves he calls Lethallan. 2. Low approval elven Inquisitor - not all the time, just when he's in the middle of an argument with them. Used as an insult. 3. Elf Rook - derogatory lol. Not all the time, but since all Rooks start at like -100 approval, he'll throw it in for flavor more than he would for a low approval Inquisitor. Only used when he's being an asshole (and in DATV to Rook, that's 95% of the time). 4. Mihris - perfect example of da'len as an insult. He's chiding her in Elvhen for acting superior towards him.
As for how he's referred to, it's entirely dependent on the muse. In general, the greeting of respect he usually gets from the Titan Wars through to the Veil is just "Wolf." It becomes more of a prayer than a nickname the closer to the Veil, which he hates.
In Inquisition, aside from someone like Nanna, it's probably rare that he's called "hahren" in the teaching capacity, because while he does impart wisdom, it's in less of a teaching posture. Some of the city elf Skyhold servants call him "hahren" because he's in a similar role to the elders of the alienages as their quasi-advocate, but he discourages that. Frankly, I think he likes just being called "Solas." It's been a long time since he could just be that.
#~ language ~#sorry cres he will drop the da'len on you at least once bc he is a Shit#i know this has insults in it but i will do a real pejorative term post at some point#headcanons#i dont love that the terms are gendered tbh#why would elvhenan - populated by countless Firstborn amorphous spirits of emotion - have a use for gendered terms?#if your muse has a preference lmk and ill use it#otherwise ill use them sometimes but generally ill just opt for the ones we hear most in the games or that i feel like#he refers to Wisdom - pronouns It - as “lethallin”

Nothing has one beginning. - landalen or abelas for elgar'nan (u pick the era, elvhenan or datv) (weptduty)
MARASENNA + 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐖𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐍 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐅 // @wepthonor @weptduty // accepting
They were growing bolder. These beings that Mythal had brought and given form; these faithful made him think that any edge the All Mother had had once was now transferring to her Faithful, leaving herself exposed and toothless. Surrounded by wolves and yet completely unaware as she continued to grow her forest.
There had been a time when these specks would not have dared speak to him, with their tongue or otherwise, they would have had their sighs bowed for you did not stare at the Sun with unshielded eyes. And now there stood one of Mythal's champion, having climbed the mountain and thinking themselves worthy. Perhaps they spent too long in her presence, growing comfortable that she was just like them. And perhaps she nurtured that too, it was in part what had kept her control over her Faithful.
They loved her. And yet forgot themselves, forgetting to think how their actions and words reflected on her.
Elgar'nan turns and they both stand alone as he made her way towards where the Goddess rested. The Eyes of the All Father as bright as the earliest sun, rays in the early morning. Beneath these halls, he stood like the light reflected atop a still body of water. Blinding. And hiding the depths beneath.
You start and finish with the All Mother.
He does not use his throat to speak; the air around them twists and screams as his eyes narrow over the champion. The sentinel forgot his place, but He did not. Mythal might want to keep them close to her heart, close enough that they might stab her but Elgar'nan was not like them. The thought repulsed him and the walls around them reflected such, the white marble now washed from the light pouring from the All-Father, there is no darkness in the room except the one pouring from himself.
You would do well to remember that. Lest I sear it into your mind.

🔥 @ Solas and Felassan!
Send Me A 🔥 And I’ll Tell You One Thing My Muse Finds Attractive About Yours.
I sadly had to drop Solas as a muse on here, but don't worry, I still got Felassan, so I'll have him answer this!
Her personality.
I mean, who else besides Solas, is willing to turn Elgar'nan into a chew toy? He still thinks that's great. I feel like these two would be very playful together, being the one's waving the rest of the Evanuris the middle finger with no explanation needed. If anything, Keki might encourage Felassan to be a little more chaotic (but in a good way, not a bad one.) And he doesn't mind wolves one bit. So there's that.

For your Friday write time, for Fen, Fel, and Solas have “You look a bit tied up, want me to come back later?” - Elgar'nan's Pantaloons
Title: A Year and Three Days Pairing: Solas | Fen'harel x Felassan x Evuniala Rating: Mature Word Count: 1,521 Warning: Consensual Smut, Non consensual restraints (should have taken that break Solas), Adult and Smutty Themes, Liberal use of Ancient Elvhen Magic, Biting Notes: Veilguard Act 2 Spoilers if you have not done Regrets of the Dreadwolf, come back afterwards. This is heavily inspired by the myth Felassan tells Briala found here
A howl had echoed across the song and a triumphant giggle trailed it.
His lips curved into a smirk as he looked towards the waning sun. An hour left before he could leave his responsibilities and join his two beloveds and ensure the wolf took a sizable break. Giggling from the column of young sentinels pulled his narrowed gaze. His smirk took a serious tone. "It seems my plans for you have been changed." He mused, beginning to stroll along the column. "Sentinels to the Great Protector, the Judge of the People, that is your goal." He tapped on the shoulder waving them to go fetch the weapons. "Mythal in her glory requires discipline of her sentinels. The ability to stand in the middle of a great chorus and be unphased by the splendor of her kin. Until the weapons arrive you may begin." He saw one sentinel move to speak and he leveled a hawk-like gaze on the young one. "Laps, around the proving ground. I suspect five should be the least of your capabilities. Begin." The bark scattered the column to the edges of the arena.
Magic wrapped around him as he took a breath. The taste of sweet cakes filled his mouth, and the intoxicating scent of Embrium and Elfroot filled his nose. A soft chuckle left his lips as the spell continued, the toned muscle of the Wolf under his fingertips, the silken ropes used to tie him, and sweet wine passing his lips. A desperate sigh left his lips, for one who was born of hope unbridled, Evuniala's magic could kindle the flames of passion and desire only could be compared to the kin of their lover, like Neral or was it Ishmael these days. He sighed feeling her skin under his fingertips, the sweet honey kisses, the teeth of the wolf nipping at him. His fingers clenched as he tried to pull himself away from the unforgiving nature of his greaves and the focus on the form of the recruits. Every so often he was hit with a wave of Evuniala's magic that could only be described as Leave them, come and join us, you need a break too. Temptress that she was making time crawl to have him suffer for making her execute this plan of theirs alone.
It had been a simple plan; Evuniala would leave her sanctuary with her customary escort, a dark robe obscuring the temptation from view. She would parade down the concourse to the Wolf's den. Her guards would remain outside while she would enter. She would whisper his true name and reveal the gown of silk lighter than a feather, and as sheer as the thin morning fog. He would freeze, and she would trail her hand through his hair and steal a kiss before stepping out reach, if he wanted her he would come as he could never say no to Hope. She would shroud herself again in the dark robe and take him to the sanctuary. Once behind the wards that would seem the three of them undisturbed for a year's time. She would bring him into that heated embrace, remove his armor or robes and push him to the bed. She'd let his hand roam in another heated kiss, her gown obscuring the ropes she carefully wound around his arms and legs, stronger than the hempen ropes Andruil had used. She'd wait for him to join the two of them by sharing fragrant wine and sweet cakes with the most stubborn of their triad. Weeks before they had both petitioned Mythal to let them take Solas away for a year. After all, if Andruil could threaten it they could actually do it, and it was granted if they could keep him for three days away from his work. As the sun’s setting, he quickly strode the length of the parade from the proving grounds to the inner sanctuary. He could smell Evuniala's perfume lingering on the air and Sileal's cigarettes beckoning him to their lovers. He pulled his dark hair down from the bun, letting it dangle over his own armor as the wards brushed his skin. He was the last piece before the sanctuary locked to all outside influences. His lips curved into a smirk, his faint magic wove through the air a wolf joining in the chorus of his packmates teasing each other. A year and three days of being home with just his beloveds, the purposeful and measured strides collapsed into a run as he took the stairs three at a time as the desperation from Evuniala's teasing drove him to pull her into his arms and watch her come undone between him and Sileal. His fingers rested on the door, a breathless sigh leaving his lips as he pushed it open.
"Fenedhis Finally!" He chuckled as his eyes raked over Solas, bound to the bed, flushed with desire and very frustrated, while Evuniala emerged from the bathing spring, dripping in water and the sweet oils she used. "Cursing your own cock, Solas?" He teased closing the door, armor falling to the floor with clanks and clatters until he too was as nude as his lovers. "You do look a bit tied up Vhenan." he mused trailing a finger down Solas' chest, his voice carried the heat his eyes held. He hungered for both his lovers and tonight would be the start of a gluttonous feast for him. "Do you want me to come back later?" His lips brushed against Solas' ear as he kissed his neck, listening to the stifled moan. "F-Felas-ssan I swear." He chuckled listening to the usually more composed of the trio stutter.
He felt her hand along his back before the bed dipped, a glass of his favorite wine in her hand. "You both vex me." she murmured dipping a finger into the wine before lovingly trailing it along Sileal's chest, leaving a faint purple stain. "Too stubborn for you own good, refusing to take breaks." She dipped another finger bringing it to his lips, and he parted them sucking on her finger slowly. He could feel the heat of Sileal's gaze on him. "The only reason Felassan is not tied up next to you is because unlike you, he had the common sense to admit he needed a break." Her opal like gaze turned to fire as she stared at Sileal. Pulling back from her finger he leaned down slowly licking up the wine along Sileal's chest, mixing in little kisses and nips. "You are ours for a year and three days Sileal, afterwards we will share Solas with Mythal again but you will not ignore us anymore." It was rare that Hope made her demands of them, but something softened in Sileal's gaze. "Ir abelas Vhenen." It was whispered against his ear and Evuniala's fiery gaze softened as she sipped the wine before leaning forward to capture his lips.
He continued his slow trail of kisses down Sileal's abs and hips, watching as he frayed under the agonizing kisses, whimpers being cut short by burning kisses from Evuniala. Felassan's lips curved into a smirk as he reached Sileal's inner thigh and bit down. No kiss silenced the whines that left him, and he saw the look in Evuniala's eyes. He pulled back slowly kissing the wound of their mortal flesh, a little magic sparking between them. "Ours Sileal, you came into my embrace while we were but spirits." he whispered sitting up slowly and leaning over to slowly capture the wolf's lips. "you and I took mortal flesh together, bellanaris." he whispered against those kiss roughened lips. "B-bellahhnaris!" it was moaned as Evuniala's teeth found his thigh as well.
"Ours, you pulled me into your arms, away from prying eyes of those who sought Mythal's Hope for their own lords. Our spirits danced that night, and you brought me into love." She murmured against the tender skin "The day we leave our flesh we fall into Lath Bellanaris." she added lifting her eyes to watch Sileal as he managed another vow. This time the magic burned around all three of them. Tangled forever they would be no matter what the future brought them. Sileal howled as Evuniala's lips wrapped around him and Felassan leaned forward stealing those moans for himself.
Time had lost meaning in the paradise of the sanctuary. Evuniala laid against Sileal's chest as he held her hips, bite marks decorated her inner thighs. His worship and devotion pulled the sweetest of moans from her. His own lips wrapped around another part of their beloved hope worshipping her, watching her control of the situation fray under their fingers and mouths. Her hair fanned out over Sileal's hips as she mewed and bucked her hips against his face. Sileal's chuckle filled the magic of their sanctuary, much like the static of a coming storm it teased them both.
Three days and a year of nothing but pleasure, and each other tightening the pre-existing bonds until you could not tell where one's magic began and another's ended. Hope, Wisdom, and Purpose bound together for the ages.

[ Approval ] — Kissing Elgar'nan (( hi, xy here. I apologize on Parania's behalf ))
utter disgust and he didn't mask it, visible in the way he scrunches up his nose and his lips lowered into a frown [ solas greatly disapproves ] it sounded awful against his ears before judging eyes land on the other, disapprovingly and chastised. should he ask? this is the time when curiosity should not win but of course solas could not stop himself. half wants to know and the other wants to cleanse himself from this conversation. “ what do you find so appealing ? the lack of hair , sanity and morals ? ”

Rogue, saboteur specialisation. Heart of gold, the right idea and god-awful execution. Struggling to find herself and where she belongs. A personable ex-pirate with an uncanny knack for defeating the odds and coming out on top. Plenty of hiccups ahead.
MUSE TAGS: GENERAL, WRITING, PINTEREST, SPOTIFY, BONDS, META.
Please note: spoilers for Veilguard below. (Will remove the read more in a month or so).
THE BASICS.
NAME: Balrina Munette Maribel Rook Ladair. ALIASES: Mari (picked herself), Rook, she does not offer the name of Maribel unless very, very well acquainted as she ties that with her adoptive mother. AGE: 32. RACE: Human, assumed common born due to having no information about her own parents. GENDER: Female. OCCUPATION: Pirate & smuggler (formerly), mercenary (present), treasure hunter. SEXUALITY: Bisexual, male-leaning. PLACE OF ORIGIN: Ferelden (unknown to her), assumed Rivain. SPOKEN LANGUAGES: Common, Rivaini. Fluent in both. AFFILIATION: Lords of Fortune, The Veilguard.
THE PHYSICAL:
FACECLAIM: Geena Davis, specifically in Cutthroat Island. HAIR: Dark brown, almost black. Messily cut so it doesn't fall into her eyes. Definitely does this with a dagger when it starts to bother her. EYE COLOUR: Hazel, leaning heavily more into dark green. HEIGHT: 5'7''. BUILD: Lean but well-muscled from years of trawling through ruins, and scrambling up the mast to get into the crow's nests of ships. A little on the skinny side, as most seafaring folks tend to be. This is from many weeks either at sea, or, having actually left seafaring behind, setting out on trips with only the necessary rations. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Heavy scarring on face, some newer, some older. Heavy scarring on body from knife-fishing and altercations with sea life. A mish-mash of tattoos over her body, some newer, some faded with time. The favourite of hers being an anchor on her collarbone. A beauty mark above her left lip, on her left cheek and the right side of her jaw. Missing the top segment of her left pinky finger after a game of five finger fillet in her misspent twenties.
RELATIONSHIPS.
Family: Uriel Munette† (biological father), Camilla Munette† (biological mother), Marisol Ladair (adoptive mother, estranged). FRIENDS: Varric Tethras, Bellara Lutare, Lace Harding, Lucanis Dellamorte, Neve Gallus, Emmrich, Davrin, Taash. ENEMIES: Solas. Elgar'nan. Ghilan'nain. Marisol Ladair.
BACKSTORY / TIDBITS.
Originally born Balrina Munette, sole daughter of Uriel Munette and Camilla Munette. They were seafaring merchants that dealt mostly in spices, though, on occasion they could be paid to carry … other curiosities of interest.
As they were never home, they opted to set sail with Maribel rather than leave her with someone else, as they hoped that, as their eldest daughter, when they retired they would be able to leave their profession in the hands of her.
Were set upon by pirates allied with the Lords of Fortune when she was three years old, and, after the rest of the crew had been slaughtered, they found her cowering in the hold. Rather than throwing her overboard, they opted to take her to their Captain, one Marisol Ladair, of the Brightfin. She considered leaving her at the next safe port, but ultimately decided against it. She would eventually grow fond of her, and take her under her wing as a stolen protege.
She was renamed in the first few weeks under Marisol’s command, as Maribel herself decided that she did not sound quite pirate enough. She asked Marisol to pick one, and the pirate thought it would be cute to match. She would also claim the title of Miniature Mari in the years to come.
When she came old enough to be trusted to scamper up into the crow’s nest of The Brightfin, she would be on the lookout for ships on the horizon. It would not be until her 12th birthday that Marisol gifted her the first sword she would ever know. Crafted specially for her adopted daughter, it was a small thing but sharp enough to cut through her finger like butter. She called it Little Fang, and now that she has long outgrown it, it is now a display item in her room in the Lighthouse.
It took her a while to realise that it was Marisol’s crew that killed her family, and she did not remember her name before. This did put a rift between them, as from the ages of 15-25, she pulled away from her and the life of piracy in favour of the plunder and robbing of tombs, ruins and contracted jobs escorting excavators, scholars and other folks who need a trained eye.
She likes spear fishing/combing the sea floor for oysters. This is how she chooses to relax when she is stressed and she is able to find shiny shells, pearls and sea glass which is also displayed in her room in the lighthouse.
DECISIONS: UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
#ROOK LADAIR — GENERAL.#Will finish this when my eyes aren't burning.#I got more shit to do. Rules to write.#veilguard spoilers#dragon age spoilers#datv spoilers

The Heart
Archetype Headcanons || Accepting || @avrorean
When was the last time your muse’s heart was touched? Soak in every detail you can and feel the heart awaken.
Orana has been under Ghilan'nain's 'care' for several weeks before she meets Nadas'Melana. She doesn't quite crack under Ghilan'nains attentions but she absolutely folds. Lets herself be smaller and smaller to survive because she knows that living is more important to her than pride. She lets Ghilan'nain chip away little bits of what make her Orana and accepts the things that build her towards Sulhan'harel. When Elgar'nan brings Fen'harel's 'other daughter' to the temple it worries Orana. She doesn't know if she's being replaced, Elgar'nan had bored of her quickly but surely Ghilan'nain still favored her. They are introduced, Sulhan'harel nervous but polite as Ghilan'nain titters on about plans. Elgar'nan takes nearly a day to settle on a name for Orana's new 'sister' but when she does the grey warden turns to Orana and looks. When they are alone, hours later, Nanna tells the younger girl her name and asks if she would share her own. Orana nearly cries.

Dragon Age Veilguard liveblogging -
Varric: "Normally, my advice on befriending abominations would be 'Don't.' In this case... just keep an eye on him." I'm happy there's an Anders reference at all in this game where we can import almost nothing of our worldstate, even if it is Varric's usual griping. I hope we actually get to see Varric interact with the newer companions at some point because I really want to see if he'll somehow wind up trying to adopt Lucanis too, make it three for three on breaking his own heart trying to help every spirit companion he meets.
Bellara's tour of horrifying ancient artifacts, one sealed room after another containing dangerous relics that break people down to their component parts or set them on fire or something similarly lethal, and then finally you reach the last sealed room, holding only...
...a wheel of cheese.
I'm enjoying running around performing rituals that honor the evanuris who we are actively fighting against without anyone on the team objecting to this. Mythal, okay. But Falon'din - a Rook who saw the Mourn Watch as his own form of devotion to Falon'din learns his gods were tyrants and then, having reached whatever level of acceptance he's at with that, nonetheless winds up performing a ritual before Falon'din's statue specifically, his specific blighted tyrant god whose symbols he's still tattooed with, and being tangibly rewarded for it. I love this. I hope we have to perform a ritual for Ghilan'nain or Elgar'nan next.
Talking with Lucanis, my Rook had the option to mention that he's nonbinary! In the part of the character creator where you pick Rook's pronouns and gender identity separately, there was a note that the gender identity setting doesn't affect gameplay, so pleasant surprise to see it come up in dialogue after all. (At least, I'm assuming that the gender identity setting in the character creator is what got me that dialogue option. There was also a clearly marked chance to establish Rook as being trans/nb while looking into Varric's mirror earlier, but I'd picked the option to muse about Rook's Significant Tattoos there instead.)
There have been so, so many appearances by beloved characters or references to previous events despite the limited worldstate customization, but one of my favorites so far was in Minrathous, encountering someone who'd been kidnapped from the Denerim alienage back in Origins by the Tevinter slavers, now working with the Shadow Dragons. Nice little followup I wasn't expecting. And now she's dead because of a choice I made. Thank you, game, for that particular stab in the heart, it's super effective. And Neve's whole city is devastated because of a choice Rook made, and this after she's been wearing very visible bruises for most of the game so far because of a choice Rook made, and the gods are free because of a choice Rook made while trying to save the world, and the game keeps sending Rook on these rescue missions for people he tries and fails to save... and in between all this Rook is living out the memories of Solas's regrets. And the game keeps asking you who you think Solas is. Do you think you can trust him. Do you think he's lonely. Why did they change the title of this game, this is the Dread Wolf game.
"In the name of Elgar'nan, First of the Firstborn, He who was called Lusacan..." !!!!!!!! Finally ;_; one of the correspondences confirmed ;_; tears of joy ;_; I was hoping Elgar'nan = Dumat but I'll take it ;_; I need to go back and rethink all the others now, who was Urthemiel, which god is the Warden's son (if this is actually answered in this game don't tell me)
"Because you're a Mourn Watcher, Emmrich talks in-depth about spirits and necromancy with you" - victory fist pump, this game just keeps giving me everything I want
Rook had SO MUCH Mourn Watch-specific dialogue on Emmrich's recruitment mission! I think it was literally every line, this is Rook's home and he knows all its rituals and do you think the wisps here remember me - it's like Bioware saw the jokes about Lavellan's "Who's Mythal?" and made absolutely 120% sure Rook knows where he came from. But there had been almost nothing prior to this mission - one line where Rook got to play up the ~spooky necromancer~ angle to tease one of Neve's contacts, that's about it - so getting this absolute flood of Mourn Watch dialogue now really makes it feel like it must be such a relief for Rook to be able to talk to Emmrich, especially when they've been discussing people's comfort level or lack thereof with necromancy outside Nevarra. Also, no wonder Rook settled into the meditation room with that greenish underwater lighting, feels just like home.
